About HiveHits
HiveHits is a traffic exchange. Members earn minutes by viewing each other’s websites, and spend those minutes to have their own sites viewed. No subscription is required to take part, and you can buy minutes instead of earning them if you would rather spend money than time.
These describe how the platform works. Delivery figures appear here once real traffic has run through the exchange — we would rather show you nothing than show you a number we made up.
How the exchange works
One balance, spent and earned in the same unit. A minute of balance buys sixty seconds of somebody’s attention on your page — so a thirty-second visit costs you half a minute, and there is no markup on spending.
Set how long each visitor should stay, and optionally which countries they should come from. We check whether your page can actually be displayed before selling you traffic for it.
View other members’ sites in the browser or through the desktop client, or buy a package if you would rather not. Both fund the same balance.
Your site enters the rotation as soon as your balance covers a visit, and leaves it the moment it does not. You are never billed for traffic that was not delivered.
What we built differently
Traffic exchanges have a reputation problem, and it is mostly deserved. Most of the engineering here went into the parts that make a delivered visit mean something.
The duration your client reports is never used. Our server measures the visit against its own clock and credits it only if the time really elapsed. Session tokens are single-use, so a visit cannot be replayed.
Restrict delivery to the countries you care about. The country is recorded from the session we issued, never from anything a viewer’s client claims at the end.
Have visits attributed to a search engine or social network instead of arriving as direct traffic, on the delivery channels that can honestly support it.
31 weighted checks across technical, content, performance and social, each telling you what was found, why it matters and the markup that fixes it. No third-party API key required.
Plenty of sites refuse to be shown inside a frame. The Windows client renders pages in a real browser control, so those sites can receive traffic too.
Datacentre and VPN traffic earns a quarter rate, headless browsers are refused, and there are hard per-address limits. Every one of these reduces the numbers we could otherwise report.
How we operate
We publish our fraud rate. The share of visits rejected by our own checks is on the transparency page, read from live data rather than written once and forgotten.
The rules are written down. Earning rates, fair-use limits and the exact formula behind every credited visit are documented in the knowledge base, with the numbers taken from the code that enforces them.
No invented metrics. There is no made-up satisfaction percentage or headcount on this page. Everything numeric here is counted from the platform itself.
Exchange traffic is exchange traffic. It is real people loading your page, and it is genuinely useful for testing funnels, warming up analytics and getting a new site its first visitors — but we will not pretend it is organic search demand, and you should not either.
